Mandy
Belch BSc Dip Massage Therapy, MCSP Chartered Physiotherapist. HPC Registered
Mandy is the Practice principal and qualified as a chartered physiotherapist
in 1986 from The Queen’s College Glasgow.
Sports injuries are her area of expertise and she has been Physiotherapist to
the GB Curling Team at the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver 2010. Scotland’s
head physiotherapist at the Commonwealth Games team in Melbourne 2006 and was
part of the Scottish Commonwealth Games medical team in 1998 and 2002.
Mandy has been Lead physiotherapist for the Sportscotland Institute of
Sport’s Curling programme for 7years and is presently working at the Institute
as National Physiotherapy Co -Ordinator. It is a role that takes her across the
country to support the work done by physios working with high performance
athletes.
She specialises in sports injuries and has offered services to Scottish and
UK athletes, Scottish Hockey and Badminton Unions over the years.
She completed a BOA recognised diploma in Sports Massage Therapy in 2001 .
As part of her remit with the Institute of Sport she worked with athletes and
their personal coaches along with the strength coaches to provide a
comprehensive physiotherapy service that ensures Final Rehabilitation is
tailored to that individual. A concept she instils in the ethos of the clinic.
Mandy’s client base also includes members of the public with back ,neck or
arthritic pain. Whiplash and post accident pain is a common complaint that Mandy
also treats.
Kath Carswell BSc, MSc, Chartered Physiotherapist, HPC Registered
Kath qualified in 1993 from Glasgow Caledonian University and has been in
private practice with Mandy since 2001.
She has specialised in Orthopaedics and Musculoskeletal Conditions / Injuries
since 1996, completing courses in Orthopaedic Medicine, Musculoskeletal
Acupuncture, Pilates etc. She also completed a Master’s Degree in Sports &
Exercise Medicine, graduating from Glasgow University in 2001.
Kath has worked for the Scottish Rugby Union since 2000, looking after the
Scotland U21 squad until 2006, and then the Scotland Women’s team until 2009.
She has also been involved with the SportScotland Institute of Sport over the
past decade and has travelled with the Women’s Hockey and also the Judo
programmes.
As well as many years expertise in Sports Injuries, Kath also has a keen
interest in the treatment & management of Osteoarthritis.
JENNY REA MSc BSc Chartered Physiotherapist, HPC Registered,
Jenny qualified from Glasgow University in 1994 with a BSc
Hons in physiology and Spots Science and went on to graduate from Caledonian
University in Physiotherapy in 1998.
She has had 9years treating musculoskeletal problems and
sports related injuries in both the NHS and Private Sector, working at Newlands
now for two years.
She qualified as a Pilates instructor from the Australian
Physiotherapist Pilates Institute. And has directed her pilates work towards
Low Back Pain where she modifies it to enhance recovery. She teaches this on a
one to one basis or in a class setting.
KIRSTEN LYONS BSc Chartered Physiotherapist, HPC Registered
Kirsten qualified in 1989 from Robert Gordons University in
Aberdeen and has gone on to specialise in paediatrics.
Her particular area of expertise is in neurological
disorders and has gained post graduate qualifications in Hyotherapy (riding for
the disabled)
Having not only a child specialist in our team but one with
a working knowledge of neurology gives us a distinct advantage from which to
plan our treatment options and with combined skill base the clinic can combat
almost everything today’s world throws at us.
IAIN REID (Hons) MSc Chartered Physiotherapist, HPC Registered.
Iain qualified from Edinburgh University in 1999 with a BSC Hons in Applied
Science and went on to complete a masters degree in physiotherapy from Glasgow
Caledonian University in 2003.
He has been working as a physiotherapist within the NHS since he qualified in
2003 and now specialises in the treatement of a range of musculoskeletal
conditions in patients of all ages and from all levels of activity. He has been
working in the private sector for the past 3 years.
Iain is a competitive long distance runner and is an active member of his local
running club. He has prvious national and district representative honours in
track and cross country running. Due to his involvement in sport Iain has always
had a speacial interest in the treatment of sports injuries, therefore he has a
good knowledge base in preparing for athletic performance and the importance of
conditioning of injury prevention. Iain can provide therapeutic exercises within
a gym format to facilitate rehabilitation needs and aid return to sport and
exercises.
