Sports Injuries
One area the team specialise in is the management of sports
injuries. Our team have experience in most types of sports injuries; this comes
from looking after professional as well as recreational sports teams. (see meet
the team)
According to research from some leading Universities in the
UK there are up to 29 Million sports injuries each year in the UK, While 1 in 3
is bad enough to result in treatments. The most common injury of all happens to
the lower limbs
The clinic accepts all types of sports injuries from
musculoskeletal dysfunction and strains to post operative surgical management
and its final rehab. Working in a tennis club certainly results in seeing many
“tennis elbows” but many more present with hip and back pain.
Ensuring you are fit to return to sport is fundamental to
our care so we work closely with your own coach/personal trainer or link with
one of our own to ensure you are match fit not just pain free.
The team at Newlands Physiotherapy are committed to
providing the best possible care for all our sporting clients and have developed
a profiling system based on the work they do in the high performance world.
Now everyone can have an MOT pre season to identify areas
of weakness, tightness, altered function to remedy and therefore maximise
potential and in many cases prevent injury.
It is recognised that certain factors influence the likely
hood of injury in particular sports , eg very stiff upper back is known to play
a part in developing shoulder pain and in overhead racquet sports, even back
pain.
From our conventional examination and functional testing
using video analysis the results are easy to understand. A before and after dvd
allows you to chart your recovery or improvement! |
